Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale is all about the opportunity for Thoroughbred investors to mine some of the most sought-after gems in the stud book, and Distorted d’Oro is certainly no exception, being a black-type half-sister to one of 2025’s racetrack stars, from an ever-improving family and in foal to arguably the hottest sire on the planet. Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds offers Distorted d’Oro as Hip 207 at Night of the Stars on Monday, November 3.
The 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro is out of the Distorted Humor mare Virginia Key, making her a half-sister to this year’s G1 Florida Derby winner Tappan Street (Into Mischief), the only horse to defeat G1 Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty during his three-year-old campaign in 2025. Distorted d’Oro is carrying her first foal by breed-shaping sire Into Mischief, meaning the resulting foal will be closely related to Tappan Street.
With Tappan Street working toward a racetrack return in 2026, it is an excellent time to buy into this very active blue-chip family, which also includes Grade 1 winners Grace Adler and Bullsbay as well as last year’s G3 Pimlico Special winner and dual Grade 1-placed Pyrenees.
Distorted d’Oro was herself accomplished on the racetrack, winning three times for owner Pete Williams and trainer Mike Stidham and picking up a black-type placing in the one-mile Searching S.
