About Nicky Drion
Nicky Drion was born into the Thoroughbred business. The son of longtime Aga Khan Studs manager Ghislain Drion, Nicky grew up on Ballymany Stud in Ireland, where horsemanship and heritage went hand-in-hand. After earning a degree in agriculture from University College Dublin, Nicky built his own career with formative experience at Coolmore, Summerhill Stud in South Africa, and top American farms and racing operations. Those years gave him not only a global perspective, but also a deep respect for the fundamentals of raising good horses.

Before founding Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds in 2020, Nicky spent more than a decade at Woods Edge Farm and Indian Creek, two of Central Kentucky’s most respected operations. Along the way, he developed a philosophy rooted in consistency, quality, and care. Today, Nicky sees every horse on his farm every day, his attention to detail setting the tone for everything we do. Nicky's wife, Cara, is an interior designer and plays a key role in coordinating logistics at the sale consignments.

Sarah Hinkle (pictured) is a longstanding member of our team whose work in our yearling and office divisions are pivotal to our success. With backgrounds across breeding, foaling, sales prep, and daily horse management, our staff plays an essential role in shaping each horse’s success.
