The Nicky Drion-bred Dazzle d’Oro (Bolt d’Oro) lived up to his name on debut at Churchill Downs on June 29, earning ‘TDN Rising Star’ status for his three-length victory going six furlongs on the dirt.
Quickly reaching the lead under Jose Ortiz, Dazzle d’Oro ticked off fast fractions with ease before drawing clear to win in a sharp 1:08.65.
Bred by Drion and partners, Dazzle d’Oro was a $160,000 yearling turned $250,000 Keeneland September yearling. His half-sister will be offered by the Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds consignment at Keeneland September this year.
“He was a great looking foal from birth all the way up until we sold him at Keeneland November,” Drion told the TDN. “I sold him as a weanling, so I didn’t have him very long, but with me he was straightforward.”
