Two-year-old filly I B Flyin, who was born at Foxtale Farm and raised and sold by Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds, lived up to her name at first asking at Keeneland on Oct. 17, flying late to take a 5 1/2 furlong maiden special weight contest by a half-length.
Settling slightly worse than midpack down the backstretch, I B Flyin began to make up ground rounding the turn. Swinging wide off the bend, she used the length of the stretch to run down the leaders for an ultimately comfortable score.
Bred by MKW Thoroughbreds, I B Flyin in a daughter of Maclean’s Music and Good Fairy (Super Saver), a half-sister to leading sire Good Magic. I B Flyin was purchased by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds from the Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds consignment for $300,000 at Keeneland September last year. She is trained by Steve Asmussen.
