Serendipity (Street Sense), co-bred by Nicky Drion and sold through the Nicky Drion Thoroughbreds consignment at Keeneland September in 2023, made her stakes debut a winning one at Woodbine on June 28, taking the G3 Selene S. by 2 1/2 lengths.
Owned in partnership by NK Racing and LNJ Foxwoods, Serendipity was purchased as a yearling for $250,000. She was a debut winner for trainer Brad Cox on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 23, and second at the allowance level over a sloppy sealed track at Belmont at the Big A on May 9 before being transferred to trainer Josie Carroll and sent north. Trying the synthetic for the first time in the Selene, Serendipity made every pole a winning one.
“I think she’s [Serendipity] an exceptionally nice filly,” said Carroll. “I know her connections all thought the same. It was their opinion she would take to the synthetic and they were spot on. She’s come up here and done nothing but train well.”
